In preparation for Netflix's The Defenders, I've been binge watching Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. I had already devoured Jessica Jones. If you know me, you know I ❤️ David Tennant. I found out recently that I might be in for a treat in season 2 of the Jessica's story.

I made it through Iron Fist and yes, it was a chore. 😴 The cast, storylines and pacing were not great. Ugh. It was hard. I did it, but it was hard. Finn Jones plays the title character, Danny Rand aka Iron Fist. You may recognize him from GoT as Loras Tyrell. I wasn't found of him there and I'm not fond of him here. He is just kind of bland. If I had to hear him say "I'm Danny Rand" one more time, I think I might have thrown something through my iPad.
I will get to Luke Cage, eventually. I guess. I didn't like him on JJ, so I can't imagine enjoying him on his own.
I am halfway through season 2 of Daredevil. Wow! Jon Berthnal as The Punisher! 😍. I am looking forward to seeing the character expanded in his own show. Netflix has quite the franchise growing with these shows and for the most part, I'm in. I don't know if I will continue with IF, its just so boring.

All this binge watching has lead me to wonder, what is the proper way to watch a show: Binge or Classic?
I guess there are pros and cons to both. Traditional allows you to have suspense and joy of waiting each week for the next installment. The instant gratification of a binge watch takes that away. Instead you are left with the overwhelming sadness when you have finished a series. Case in point, I recently binged CrazyHead, a fantastic British show also available on Netflix. I tore through that show, immediately searching the web to find out when I'd have more episodes to gobble up. I was heartbroken to find out it had been cancelled and the episodes that I just blazed through were the only ones I would ever have. I wish I had savored them more. I suppose I can always go back and re-watch, but it will never be the same.

I've been on quite the binge lately. Game of Thrones, Chewing Gum, and Wet Hot American Summer. Do I miss the traditional way to watch shows? Not really. I cut the cable cord over 2 years ago. I watch everything on Netflix and Hulu anyway. One of my favorite things to do once in while is to save a whole weeks worth of General Hospital and watch it all at once. That way, I can keep up with the pace of the show and not have to wonder, who is that crazy woman torturing people.
Live TV for me is now reserved for Live events: sports games, reality show competitions, and the Today show. However, entertainment apps are stepping up their game and offering live TV options. It's a whole new world and I am just binging my way through it. 😂
My sister and I usually wait until the end of the season to watch Empire. We don't want to wait, week after week, to see what's going to happen. This season however, we just didn't watch it all. I guess we kind of just forgot about it. The perils of the binge watch also.
What do you think? Do you prefer to binge or watch weekly? Comment below and until next time...
