What did I love?

Simply put, everything about Tessa Thompson. I have seen Ms. Thompson in other things before, but not quite like this. I first saw her on Veronica Mars as Wallace’s girlfriend Jackie. I didn’t really like her, but always thought she was a talented actress. Apparently, she is also on Westworld, but I have not watched it yet. She is a bad-ass in Ragnarok. I loved her. The strength, the moves and she looks fantastic. I can’t wait to see more from her. She is listed amongst the massive cast of Avengers: Infinty War.

Loki was once again a delight to watch. Tom Hiddelston never dissapointed as the mischief making adopted brother to Loki. If you forgot he was masquerading as Odin at the end of the Dark World. Thor comes back to Asgard and does not believe his brother’s ruse. What a hilarious scene. I enjoy watching Hemsworth and Hiddleston play off of each other. They have fantastic chemistry.

I am normally not a Ruffalo fan, but he is slowly winning me over with his portrayal of Bruce Banner in the MCU. I hope Marvel realizes that they don’t need to give him a stand-alone movie and jut lets him continue to appear in other more stable franchises. He is great here as well. It’s an interesting feeling to enjoy the Hulk just as much as Banner, but that’s what they’ve done here.

What is it about?

The third installment in the Thor franchise picks up sometime after Civil War. Thor must battle Hela who want to rule Asgard. Holy shit is Cate Blanchett amazing in his movie. The bloodthirsty Hela is stronger than Thor and as we see int he trailer, she shatters our hero’s hammer with very little effort. I cannot wait to see all the different attempts at cosplaying this character. The headgear was intense.

What a treat Jeff Goldblum is. His role as the Grandmaster is scene stealing and scenery chewing every time he is on the screen. The Grandmaster rules over a planet that Thor finds himself on. He runs the games that we see competing in against Hulk.

Chris Hemsworth returns and gets a hair cut in this volume and it suits him. He also looks a little less buff. Still fit as hell, but not quite so lunkhead. He gets to show his humorous side quite a bit here.

Final thoughts...

This is a solid entry into the MCU. It wipes away all bad thoughts form Dark World. The MCU is learning from the successes of Gaurdians of the Galaxy. This entry brought much more humor and classic rock to the screen. I enjoyed this from start to finish. Thor has really come into his own here. It’s wonderful thing that the franchise has seemed to find new life under the fabulous direction of Waititi. Not only is he a fantastic director, but he also gives voice to the hilarious Korg.

I can’t wait Black Panther now. Let’s keep this MCU train heading straight into Infiinity War.
