Spring has finally sprung.
It has been a while. I am so sorry. I needed to take a break from writing and just be. As you remember, the last time we talked about all things Ipsy, I was going to end my relationship with them.
I tried to pause and realized a beautiful thing. Ipsy has a bi-monthly plan. My want to separate came mostly from an overabundance of product in my home. Having the ability to skip every other month was perfect for me. It gave me the chance to both use some of the product I already had and miss getting it every month. I will remain on every other month plan for the next few months and see what happens. Let's take a closer look at my April bag.The Bag:
It is springtime, FINALLY. Warmer weather is starting. The gentle hum of a lawn mower hangs in the air. This bag celebrates that feeling. It's super cute. I love the yellow and white bag. I smell spring flowers and lemonade when I look at it and dream of the sun shining on my face. It is also a functional size bag. A lot of my complaints about Ipsy bags are they don't fit brushes comfortably. Score: 5/5
Eyeko Black Magic Liquid Eyeliner Travel Size
What do I always say? Black eyeliner is always welcome. Who couldn't use it? I did just have to do a purge of makeup and I found that I had to throw out a good number of black eyeliners, but that is not a problem for me. I like having options and I don't use things quickly. Eyeko is one of my top 5 favorite brands of eyeliner. This is a great formula and I like the tip. It will be welcome in my travel kit. Score: 5/5
Marc Anthony True Professional Hydrating Curl Cream
I love Marc Anthony products. They make my hair feel amazing! I am starting a new process, however. In an effort to stop wasting my products, I'm not going to open them until I plan to use it. Its spring time, so that means I have flat ironed hair at the moment. I will wait to use this until later in the summer when I want to swim and will leave my hair natural.
I can't wait to try it out. It will defrizz, detangle and define my curls. Yes, please! Score: 5/5
Billion Dollar Brows Fan Brush
I'm very excited to try this brush. Its got nice soft bristles and I've been dying to experiment more with highlighters. I love getting brushes in my subscription bags. I don't own a fan brush, oddly. So this is a welcome addition to my collection. Score: 4/5
Tarte Double Duty Beauty Base Tape Hydrating Primer
Opening this was such a roller coaster of emotions. I lurve Tarte products, most of the time, don't remind me of the infamous blush debacle of 2017. I generally don't use primers, but I wanted to see what this was like. I opened it and it came squirting out of the tube - all over my hand. I laughed and then was a little mad. It was so much! Then, I took a little and sniffed it. It smelled so good. Immediately used all of what came out and rubbed it into my skin. I was so surprised how it made my skin feel. The coconut oil made it smell like a day at the beach. I don't wear a lot of foundation, hardly ever actually, so primers are not in my daily rotation. I will give this one a chance though on the days that I do wear foundation. Score: 3.5/5
Nomad Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Blue Lagoon
I recently changed my beauty quiz, I want more vibrant, bold colors in my life. I am tired of mauve and pinks. This beautiful blue has to be a result of that change.
This blends beautifully into the skin and I noticed that it lasts a long time. I will be using this a lot this summer! Score: 5/5 - always send me eyeshadow!
Final Thoughts:
I did miss my monthly Ipsy a little. This was like seeing an old friend. I'm not going to go back to the monthly right now, I enjoy this little warm feeling of the bi-monthly plan. I have signed up for the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus, just to see what they have to offer. We shall see how that goes.
