American Made: based on a true lie

Doug Liman’s new movie stars Tom Cruise as TWA-turned CIA pilot Barry Seal. Seal was tasked with taking covert pictures of bad guys, in bad places. Places the government couldn’t go. Domhnall Gleeson aka Bill Weasley from the Harry Potter movies, recruits him during his TWA days. Back then Seal was innocently smuggling cigars into the states. Once he starts working for the government, its not long before he’s smuggling much harder product for the  MedellĂn Cartel . So many of the situations in the movie boggle the mind, I hope they are even 10% true! Fasten your seat belts kids, this movie is a wild ride   The real Barry Seal Tom Cruise as Barry Seal © Universal Pictures My sister and I got to see this prior to its release at a free screening. It was a near sell-out crowd and they were very engaged. Sometimes that really is the best way to see a movie. The laughter, gasps, chuckles and exclamations make it a fun experience. Our crowd didn’t let u...

Stephen King's IT: a clown-phobic review

Beep-Beep Richie. Beep-Beep. In 1990, my life changed forever. I was introduced to the film version of Pennywise the Clown. Portrayed by Tim Curry, the devilish clown graced TV screens in the miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s IT. I read the book and was sufficiently creeped out, but wasn’t afraid of clowns. Now, I quake and whine and occasionally cry at the sight of a clown. You might ask what drove me to take my ass to the theater and see the thing that terrifies me most. I wanted something to terrify the shit out of me. Since I’ve been watching and reading horror since I was a wee lass, I am not afraid of much. I thought that a malevolent clown would be the thing that got me. Tim Curry (1990)  Image: IGN Bill SkarsgĂ„rd (2017)  Image: IGN What went wrong. Unfortunately, it didn’t give me the full out creeps and I turtled into my sweater only once. I didn’t bite, hit, cry or punch anyone, so I’m going to say semi-fail for the movie. It’s no...

The Collector's Case: Vampires and Bunnies Unboxing

Collector's Case is a new monthly subscription service that I found through  My Subscription Addiction . It is a monthly geek box that includes an amazing amount of geeky items, plus the chance at an autograph. You can also secure the " Sure Thing " and make sure you receive the autograph for that month. That's what I decided to do and go for the autograph.  This month's theme was Vampires and Bunnies.  The autograph was Emma Caulfield aka Anya Emanuell Christina Jenkins from  Buffy the Vampire Slayer.   As you might have gathered from my podcasts and my life in general, I'm HUGE fan of BtVS.  My chances of meeting Emma are slim and she was a missing piece of my Buffy wall. I can't wait frame the autograph and add it. This box ships out of Canada, arrived via UPS and I actually had to sign for it.   The Collector's Case Monthly Subscription Box $26.50 plus shipping  The Regular Box $56.50 plus shipping...
